The company telecasts several productions around the world each season, broadcasts each week from December to April on radio across North America (and regularly across Europe) and appears on an extensive library of studio recordings. For example, Levine was reportedly paid $1.6 million for his work with the Boston Symphony in 2006.
The two others — identified by The New York Times as Chris Brown and James Lestock — both met Levine while playing in their school orchestra. He has lectured at Harvard, Yale, Sarah Lawrence College and The Juilliard School and is the subject of a full-length documentary, which has been televised in Europe and the USA. He also works each season with the Berlin Philharmonic, has had a long association with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (including 20 years (1973-1993) as Music Director of the Ravinia Festival, where the orchestra is in summer residence), and is a regular guest with the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Dresden Staatskapelle, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. James Levine has the distinction of being the first recipient of the annual cultural award of the City of New York. Beginning in 1996 he has conducted an extended World Tour with "The Three Tenors". James Levine is also a distinguished pianist and an active recital collaborator, especially in Lieder and song repertoire. The allegations are particularly troubling due to the fact that all three of the men’s stories involve them being 17 or under at the time of their abuse. This weekend was the first time the stories were put out there to the public, and in detail. In terms of criminal charges, those may not be forthcoming as the current allegations are past their statutes of limitations. The first of the allegations were actually made in 2016, but they did not come to light until recently. James Levine isn’t a name in awards night ceremonies.
