Docent-led tours are available into the ship's navigation and flight deck control areas of the island and down into one of the engineering spaces containing two of the four ship's propulsion turbines. Take the Broadway/Alameda exit and turn right at the bottom of the ramp onto 5th Street. Identification as proof of age may be required. Spaces are available for buses and RVs. For safety, all guest will have their temperature checked and are required to wear face coverings.

The USS Hornet Museum is a museum ship, located on the southernmost pier of the former Naval Air Station Alameda in Alameda, California, US. This policy is due to having to traverse very steep ladders and stairs, narrow walkways, and significantly raised thresholds that can prove extremely challenging.

Turn right onto W Hornet Ave and proceed towards the cluster of large ships. Four months later, Hornet recovered the all-Navy crew of Apollo 12. Under present COVID-19 requirement restrictions, we are listed as a Phase 3 business and considered a partial open-air museum. Turn left onto W Oriskany Ave to enter the former naval air station. With docent led and self-exploring tour options there is something for the entire family to enjoy. Full reopening will occur when we enter Phase 4 which could occur in September or October. Some areas of the ship start closing by 3 PM, so we recommend arriving no later than 2 PM for the engine room and other docent-led tours. Lincoln Ave will merge into Pacific Ave. Cross Main Street to enter the former naval air station. Our site includes ticket info, a calendar of events, and the latest news. Guests can experience the life of a sailor by touring the ship at night, eating in the crew's mess, and sleeping in the berthing compartments (bunks). Our mission is to utilize USS Hornet and the collections, exhibitions, and educational programming to promote awareness and understanding of history, science, technology, and service.
