The design is slick and delivers excellent results quickly. Sensible automation implementation. You may also like this post covering Cubase Spectral Comparison EQ mode.
On February 20, 2020, Slate Digital released its new graphical Infinity EQ. Because of the amount of frequency bands and the precision that Infinity offers, I have not found myself needing to stack EQs like I normally would with other plug-ins. VMR has two Preset types: Rack and Module, loaded from the Preset Bar and Slot header respectively.
In other circumstances, the drum and cymbal transients begin to sound 'papery' and slightly detached from the rest of the mix. There was a problem. Secondly, the visual analyzer does an excellent job showing what the user is hearing. Circuit 2 is a different kettle of fish altogether, doing a great job as a transparent 'gluing' compressor.

What you get with the VMS is a high-quality, large capsule condenser mic, a dedicated ‘ultra linear’ mic pre and a plug-in which contains the modelled mics. The Rack workspace is divided into three main sections: Preset Bar at the top, module Library (which can be folded away) to the left, and the main vertical module Slots (labelled A to H).
It's authorised to an iLok key, and is available on Mac and PC in all the usual plug‑in formats.
Reviver is a nice freebie module. On at least half of the test tracks I put through it, the competition was left for dust, and on most of the others, FGX was at least as good as the competition.
We never share your data with anyone. Further options include an A/B Snapshot function for the whole Rack, module Solo (with grouped solo via the Cmd/Ctrl modifier), individual module bypass, and Rotary Knob mode for circular mouse movement. For example, I dug up three rough mixes from an old project that consisted of rock drums, electric bass, acoustic guitar and vocals, and A/B'ed them through FGX and Waves' L3 multi‑band limiter.
In recent years Slate Digital has been at the forefront of audio production. But at the end of the day, we have to pay the bills, and it's a rare client who is happy to have his or her master half as loud as commercial releases in the same genre.
In addition to the Infinity EQ, the All-Access Pass has plenty of helpful tools to help compliment your work.
Slate Digital's answer to this dilemma is to give you not just one compressor but three. Finally, automation can be targeted on each Slot, and clicking a Slot letter reveals its parameter list, with everything named as it will appear in your DAW. Metering for the FG Level processor is even more comprehensive than for the compressor: both the massive bar‑graph and the twin VUs are fully configurable, and you can switch between three different stored metering configurations with a simple click. This combines tube, tape, transformer and EQ modelling in a two-knob 'sweetening' effect that's great at poshing up sub-mixes (particularly drums) and works well in small doses on the mix bus.
I'm a Berklee College of Music graduate, currently residing in LA with my dog and chinchilla. The third mix was a case of swings and roundabouts.
